Hey got a friend (11B) that is about to leave Benning for their, anyone got any info to pass on to him about this unit? |
FYI,it is 4th Brigade that is living in temp facilities; 5th brigade is on main post in some of the former ADA buildings. 1st Brigade moved to some of the new buildings that were just built. Really it is funny, 4th Brigade has been here since 05 and because we are the largest we are still getting shafted with temp stuff.... |
Wacky shit watching unit reorganizations. My BN (Wildflecken, V Corp) was dissolved after Desert Storm then reconstituted about a year later in Bamberg (VII Corp). [Rodney Dangerfield] No respect I tell ya; No respect! |
In D Storm I served with 1-1 CAV 4 BDE 1st AD, which was a 2X2 CAV unit. They cased it’s colors in Katterbach after D Storm and reorganized in Büdingen as a total aviation CAV unit. AFAIK, they cased colors again and reorganized this time once again, as armored CAV.

Good catch-thanks. I might have been blinded by the sandstorms you guys have there. ![]() |
The rock eh? I was in B Co 141 Sig....did the first two sandbox trips. My BN got split up and sent all over the place right after I left Feb07... |
You missed out. Baumholder just made the enduring post list. There are now plans to put all new housing, barracks, PX,commisary, bowling alley, CDC....etc. withing the next 3 years. Baumholder is going to be THE place to be stationed in Germany after about 2011. Hell, I might even extend.......Nah, I miss my guns too much. |
| I'm with 4/1 AD. We're the ones living/working in the desert over at Biggs Field. Ft. Bliss is split in half w/ main post (ADA+5/1AD/assorted units) and 1/1 and 4/1 over at Biggs. 5/1 is a test brigade. They are AETF - army evaluation task force or something like that. From what I hear, they fucking hate life. But I don't know firsthand. Tell him to try and laterally transfer to 1/1 or 4/1 if they can swing it. |
What unit? 2-13 Cav here |
Same here I am in 2/13 CAV with Tim_McBride.

Good ole Wild chicken. The gov doesn't know what the hell they are doing in Germany. I helped close Fulda when the 11th ACR left. I then went to Giessen and closed it and Friedberg. Next was Frankfurt, when they closed 92nd hospital and V Corps and I got the hell out of the Army beofre going to Heidelberg. Gieesen was re-opened when Kirhcgoens was having issues and then 1st AD rolled out. Giessen still had a small contingent of troops when I was there a few months ago. |
