I was in the guard for the 6 years guard/2 year IRR deal. I got back from overseas and went into IRR after a few drills.  I went to my last drill, I didn't sign any paperwork or anything, and that was about it.  My IRR period isn't complete until next year.

Was I supposed to fill out some paperwork somewhere after my last drill? What steps, if any, should I take to ensure a proper separation?

I'd call the unit, but the battalion was completely reorganized under new officers and a new MOS after we got back, and I'd be surprised if they had any of the paperwork on us that were in the unit before.  I don't think anyone there even knows me now. Plus I don't want to get in touch with them if I don't have to. Any info?

Hey call me, I've got an idea.

Mine came in a packet in the mail, with the discharge certificate, to my listed Home Of Record. I think it came within a few months of my last drill.

Anyone else, please feel free to chime in.

I have my DD 214 from active duty, after we got back. However,

If one joines the 6 year guard/ 2 year IRR, when does he receive his discharge packet? Is it after the 6 year guard period is completed, or is it after the IRR period is completed?

Anyone know?
