The VA sent me a letter saying that they are still reviewing my case should I be worried? This is for disibility. ffh |

How long since you filed the claim? Mine took about 6 months for the initial ruling, and 6 months is about the normal time from what I'm hearing. I think I got at least 1 similar letter during that time. The VA has been making efforts at "communicating better" with veterans, but it usually comes off as "why the f#$k am I getting this letter?" Are you an OIF/OEF veteran? My understanding is that you are entitled to quicker service. If it's an appeal, it's going to take MUCH longer. My BVA appeal took about 2.5 years for a resolution. Do you have an advocate that's helping you out? He or she will know the normal processing times for your regional office. |
It's ok with me. Mine is just a little high blood pressure, not really serious. I just didn't meet the specific levels needed to rate compensation (at least 10%), although they did rate it as service-connected. Once you get your claim back, they will disclose the specifics about what is compensable and the information about the appeals process if you wish to dispute their findings and results. Good luck to you. |

I went through disability process recently and I recieved a similar letter. Its their way of saying yes we still know you are there. It took me about 7 months to get my rating which ended up being wrong so it took me another 9 months to get it reviewed and they eventually decided in my favor for 50%. It takes a while but make sure you read through everything they send you at least twice. I would also look into what your county and state offers in the way of VA claims guidance, My county run a veterans affairs office and all I had to do was show up with a dd214 and my medical record and they took care of everything. It really helped with my letter of disagreement and getting my rating changed from 30 to 50. |
