Just a quick question for the NG types.  I am coming back back into the Guard (have my reentry physical on March 3rd).  Just wondering how many times you all have gotten deployed?  I know I will be facing deployments and I really don't mind that at all.  Just wondering what I have to look forward too.  I am going back into an ADA unit in Ohio.  I'm a full time cop here in Ohio also.

One down, staring another in the face. A PL that was in my BN went from KFOR to OIF III and will be going again.

Havent been deployed yet... been in 2 years. Starting to feel kind of worthless. Afghanistan might be in my future, who knows

I haven't deployed with the Guard yet.

My unit came back from Iraq in spring '05.

I was still on active duty then.

From what they've told us we will probably deploy in the next 1-2 years.

The one big ADA unit, 1-174 is either still deployed or just REFRAD. So you should be good for a little while.

That being said, they just put out that our tours have been reduced from 18 months to 12 months. They also put out what the future is going to look like for the OHARNG.

Things don't look good for the 37th BCT. The ADA falls under the 73rd Troop Command...but i'm not sure who their parent unit is.

I also forgot to ask: Are you MOS qualified? That will have something of an impact on your deployability.

Might get pushed back by that short trip we're taking in the late fall.

I am looking at going to C 1-174 in Bellefontaine.  They just had some soldiers come back from deployment.  According to the 1SG, they don't have anything coming up, but you never know I guess.

From what I heard there is supposed to be a new ADA Brigade that comes on line in April that is going to encompas the unit I am going to.  Not sure what that is going to mean for us.

I am an E4 and I was a 14S on Active Duty, so yes I am MOS qualified.  The 1SG wants to send me to WLC as soon as I get reenlisted, but not sure when that would be happenening.  I'll be enlisted in March I imagine.

LPD, before you enlist in the NG, look around for someone in the unit you are going to join that is enrolled in the GRAP program. They will get $2k when you enlist if they "recommend" you. I am sure somebody there could use the money.

Heck...i could GRAP you for that matter!

I would have no problem with that.  I don't know anybody in the unit save for the 1SG and the 2 full time guys, that are not eligible for GRAP.

they just became eligible for the same amount of money, just under a different program.. its called, Every Soldier is a Recruiter

Go to a drill before you enlist. Meet the guys, get a feel for the place. I am sure you will find a needy gun enthusiast there who could put $2k to use. Hell, it doesnt even have to be a Guard guy from the same state, just a Guard guy in GRAP.

I've done 2  deployments and a 2 month AT.  My unit is back in the bucket now, but I'm kinda looking forward to it.   I've been thinking about going back over as a contractor.

31B Military Police here. Spent 16 months deployed since the beginning of the conflict. Another one coming in 2008 according to the rumor mill.

Many ADA units are being reassigned across the board as SECFOR (Security Force) units - running convoys and doing base security, not actual ADA missions. They keep the ADA MOS, they get months of MOB training for their SECFOR mission.

For AT last year - we were attached to an ADA unit that had to make the transition at Ft. Dix, NJ to get them up to par on the MP skills they were using during their deployment.

Just got back in Nov. from a year.  I get out Sept. '08, will probably make it out as we're restructuring our whole Brigade and will be in transition for at least 2-3 years.

Thank god, I dunno if I could handle another deployment with some of these guys.

Just the once, so far. Up in the air as to if we're going to go again.

That's what i'm screamin'.

Actually, someone kind of pointed out my error. It wouldn't be GRAP...it'd be under Every Soldier is a Recruiter.

Although, i thought i did read something about AGRs being eligible for GRAP now? ::shrug::

We are eligible for GRAP, well, once I reenlist anyway.  I have a buddy coming in with me also, I am going to get his GRAP.  Lets make a deal Coonhound.

since '01 weve gone out 3 times, 7 months for SFOR 10, a year for Gitmo, and a couple weeks for Katrina.  On our way out the door right now as well.  SO I guess thats 4 times since 01.
