How do these helmets fit compared to the old style kevlars? If you wore a medium k-pot will a medium MICH/ACH fit fine? Im not going to be issued one until I deploy, but was looking to purchase one for training. Thanks. |
Don't buy one if they'll issue it. Nothing wrong with using the ballistic helmet(AKA Kelvar) for training. ACH sizes are based on the shell and then the pad sizes. Shell sizes are Med and Large---Might be an XL out there now. Pad sizes are 6 and 8. The smaller the pad number, the larger the head(Large 6 is bigger than a Large 8). I wear a large ballistic helmet, and a Large 6 ACH. Most people I know with medium ballistic helmets can easily fit into an L8. I only know a couple of people who wear medium shell ACHs. There are a few ACH TMs(with sizing info) on the web. Have at it. |
