My son was supposed to head off to Marine Corps boot on December 5th, but his recruiter offered him a position under program code UW which the description reads: Marine Corps Security Forces (PRP).

Can any of you recruiters or Marines tell me exaclty what that means.
His mos is listed as  0300 Infantry.

I am very proud of him, I was in the Army, so when he was thinking about the Corps, he was a bit hesitant to tell me. I told him that if he was going in, he would likely receive the best combat training in the Marines. This new 'program' he is going into is a mystery. They referred to is as Presidential Security, which seems a bit odd to me.

Edited for spelling.

I've been out for almost twenty years, but I can say that when I was in, Presidential Security and Marine Security Guard were special programs that you had to apply for and meet certain time-in-service requirements. Wash-out rates were high and it goes without saying that you also had to attend special schools.

Things have changed, I'm sure, but I have to think that these two programs are still pretty restrictive.

Call a recruiter in a nearby town, or hell, call Heaquarters Marine Corps.

They still are restrictive.

I had my MSG package approved, but unfortunately I was injured and put on limited duty, so I never got to go

DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!!!!

I had a guaranteed MOS when I first joined the Corps and then my recruiter called me and said I could go to Boot early. What he didn't tell me was that I would be giving up my guaranteed MOS and going in open contract.

Things may have changed but I'd make sure they show you in writing what he is getting and what he isn't.

The Marine Corps only guarantees OCC fields for active duty enlistments, the final determination on MOS is made at the school house depending on needs of the Corps and personal capability.

SF contract enlistments are all 03xx OCC field, PRP is personnel reliability program.  It is required because SF Marines guard special weapons as such need to be in the PRP program.  If he fails out of the pipeline or he cannot qualify for a TS/SCI, he will be dropped from the SF program and assigned to an infantry unit.  If he makes it into the program after his 2 year stint in SF or FAST he will be returned to the fleet to fall in with an infantry unit.  Normally he is a senior LCpl or junior Cpl, I would advise him to be treed lightly or he will be labelled a "Barracks Baby" meaning a SF (also know as Barracks Duty) or MSG Marine who arrives at a line Battalion senior to many of the people who have been there for a year plus, but lacking in all the training and experience the non-SF/MSG Marines possess.
