Otherwise, the heyday of military contracting is more or less over. At least the high paying sweet contracts like we saw in Iraq and Afg. And the contracts that are left have a lot of competition for spots with guys already in the system that have been bouncing from contract to contract for the last 10-15 years.

I am not actively looking for a job at this point, but it seems like a lot of places are using AI to filter resumes, and you'll apply a lot and not get a lot of call backs unless you're exceptionally qualified for the job. Maybe you can figure out how to use AI to apply to jobs for you.

I finished 3 years of contracting in Afghanistan and there was really nowhere else for me to go, so I went back to school for a masters and applied to hundreds of jobs and never even had an interview, and ended up finding a job through an old college friend - and then after a while I found a better job via a different connection that I contacted with my resume. Networking seems to be the only way to get your foot in the door these days, but I guess that was always the best way to find good opportunities.

Think about who you know from your career that might be able to put your resume in front of the right person somewhere?
