I was a Battalion Maintenence Officer for 18 Months, my warrant during that time was Chief Warrant Officer Johnny Mata. He is currently listed as Duty Status Unknown in Iraq. He is most likely KIA as part of the ambush of that maintenance convoy. He has a wife, 16 year old son, and beautiful 7 year old daughter. He was a great soldier and warrior who I am sure went down fighting. It appears he was convoy commander and died protecting his soldiers. Please keep his family in your thoughts. |
