Lew Tippie forwarded this to me earlier today. Was going to post it in GD, but felt this is it's proper place. [b]A sad state of affairs..... Sad? I think this man lived in an era the other people sitting on their collective asses did not. His was a generation that fought for the very way of life that is marching up the street. Those colors mean so much more for him than for them. The red denotes the blood he and his generation shed freely all across the world so that those people might sit there. White is for the purity of purpose that they knew as they fought. Blue is the color of honor, which so many of them stood and died for in little places like Wake, Bataan, Bastogne, Normandy, Remagen, Iwo Jima and Tarawa. He is standing for all of those that having stood once, can never stand again. They stood so that evil would fall. They stood so their children might not grow under the yoke of facism and terror. They stood so that men like us might stand for our generation. They stood so that those misguided, short sighted, non-caring, assembled masses of so called "patriotic" civilians could sit on their pampered, protected fat asses and let men like you and me stand for them. That damn photo makes me feel sick! Not only is he the only guy standing but if we stood up (and I have) people would look at us like fools. That poor guy must feel like it was all for nothing they way people now act. I don't think we are as bad off as some say I just wish Americans did not have to die before people can act like Americans again. I'll stand up by that old man and the rest of them can kiss our asses. |
