Where you go to basic training during the summer between your junior and senior year of highschool? My brother in law wants to join big time and I was telling him how I remembered the split-ops program but I didn't know if it still existed.

He wants to do Reserves not NG I should have specified. And we are going in on Wednesday I just wanted to know ahead of time.

I know in the Marine Corps it is still around. They call those people 92 day reservists. After boot camp they went home and did school while drilling and then attended additional training the next summer.

You could fit many of the combat arms MOS's into one summer. Just saying.

I did the army NG split ops or whatever the acronym is, in '98 and '99. It really sucked going back the next summer and I would advise doing it all in one shot if at all possible. Good luck either way
