| Anyone know of a company that makes titanium handcuffs? I have had zero luck with sites like Galls and I'm not sure they are even produced. I'm looking to lighten my belt up but I don't like the idea of polymer handcuffs so I currently carry the old steel S&W. |

The hiatt steel-alloy are crazy light. But honestly, how much are one (or two) pairs of cuffs gonna lighten things up? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Admittedly not much, but one thing that AR's have taught me is that a few ounces here and a few ounces there can add up and make things much more comfortable over extended time periods. I work 12 hour shifts and I'm looking at options to lighten my total load (which is about 27lbs right now). |

American Handcuff Co. out of Wisconsin made some, I think, a couple of years ago. But I thought there was some safety issues with them? I have these and have carried them since 2003 zero issues. If there is a safety issue I would like to know what it is. mine are gtg wish they did not stop making them. |

I recall hearing that the Ti cuffs were a bit brittle and subject to failure/fracture if struck against a nice solid object... I'll try the power of google and see if I can find anything to back up my hazy recall. I'd be guessing that this issue could be avoided by merely cuffing behind the back and controlling your prisoner... so I'd get a pair if I could find em. I used to carry an Aluminum hinged set until a nice strung out PCP addict of body builder proportions twisted them into a pretzel while he was cuffed behind his back... I prefer Hiatts hinged steel now these days. If Ti cuffs hinged cuffs were available, I'd be very tempted to get a pair... a couple ounces here, a couple ounces there... it adds up. |
