| My department is entertaining the idea of re-establishing an official honor gaurd. I think there is going to be some interest, but our Chief wants this to be a go big or go home type of thing. My question is does anyone know of some good honor guard training for police? Needs to cover flag detail, funeral detail, rifle detail and parade detail type stuff. I've heard the Minnesota LEMA is one of the best, but their website seems a bit out dated. Any help is appreciated! |

Just as an FYI, when I was assigned to 3D U.S. Infantry Regiment, The Old Guard at Fort Myer, VA, the Regiment put on an Honor Guard training program for police agencies. I don't think it was limited to local PD's but they didn't provide barracks/chow hall facilities for the officers attending.
That would be a good place to start. I used to have the Staff Duty NCO phone number but if you call 411 and ask for a FT Myer number, you will get the military switchboard operator. Just ask for the Staff Duty desk and from there you can get a message to (or speak directly with) the Sergeant Major or one of the S-3 NCO's. They should be able to square you away. |
