What do you guys carry in your 12gauges on duty and has it proven effective?

We use Remington reduced recoil LEO buckshot. Haven't shot any one with it so I can;t tell you how "effective" it is [:d]

We issue Benelli M1-90 Entry guns and carry 6rds of Winchester XX Supreme Magnum 00-buck on the weapon, and 4 additional rds on the sidesaddle.  Also on the sidesaddle are 2rds of Quik Shok Slugs.  The Benelli's like hot ammo so the down loaded tactical stuff won't cycle consistently.

Remington 870 Magnums. Federal 2 3/4 No. 4 Buckshot(as yet unproven). Federal 2 3/4 1oz. rifled slugs(foster type) work well on deer.

Remington 870's with a smattering of old Ithacas.  Ammo is Federal OO tactical low recoil buckshot. Stuff will not reliably put down a charging Rottweiler or even a wounded deer. Haven't had any people shootings with it yet,  Slugs are not allowed.

Hornady has a new round of buckshot out that is  supposed to pattern 4 inches x 6 inches at 20 yards.

Haven't had a chance to try, nor talked to anyone who has tried it.

Kathy McHale is contact at Hornady office.

Federal #4 buck. No center of mass shots yet but works damn well as a warning shot!

Federal Tactical 00 buck and 1oz. slugs is a good place to start.
