In about a month I get pepper ball certified. I know through our dept males have to take 5 to the chest. Im not worried about the pain because ive been shot by a paintball gun before. Im wondering if the

pepper powder is as bad as FOX Labs OC that we use, because that was the suck. Any body have any suggestions?

The area saturation portion of the certification is worse than getting shot.  However, even that isn't bad.  I vowed I would never get sprayed with OC again but I would certify again with the Pepperball Launcher without hesitation.

Decontam the same way as you would after a regular Spraying.  Dawn Dish Detergent to encapuslate the capsacin oils so you only get ONE exposure.

What he said.  I am a pepperball instructor for my department and I only use the red (active) rounds to do area saturation and let the officers walk through it.  It is not pleasant but not near as bad as OC straight in the face.  When they get shot I use the purple (training) rounds and from my experience they hurt worse than a paintball since they have a harder case than you normal paintball.

I got certified back in Nov and we had to take 5 to the chest as well.  The area sat. is the only time you will even smell the powder.  When you get shot with it, the stinging from being hit with the balls will take precidence over the powder.  It stings like a bitch.  I still have little white circles on my chest from where I was shot.  Not sure how far they will be from you, but we were shot from about 10-12 ft away

We got shot directly with the baby powder rounds, then fired a couple pepper rounds into the ground and walked through them.  Some cool bruises to show off later.

Can you wear your body armor?

Nobody wore body armor when we did it, simple because nobody had it with them.

That said, one hand over the eyes, and one over the junk.  I don't know which would hurt more.

The red active OC rounds don't do nearly the damage that our OC spray does.  I've been shot several times for training in the chest with the red rounds and it just makes like a dust cloud in front of your face which sucks when you breath in but my whole face and eyes burned with the spray.

Don't worry about it.  Piece of cake.

Pepper spray decom takes a LOT longer then pepperball.  I'm a pepperball instructor, I'd much rather get exposed to pepperball exposure then OC again.

Talked to the instructor today. He told me that most of the day is learning how to load and unload and all the stuff that goes with it. And at the end is the practical. Males get shot 2 times in the chest with

actual pepper balls and females get shot in the thigh.
