My chief just told me to pick out a new ballistic vest for duty.  I am not up to date on vest design and what not.  I would like a 3a vest and money is not an option.  Any advice what to go with for the best armor?  Thanks.

ABA xtreme IIIA. Works for me.

I'd be wary of the Zero G.  I think it's by Safariland.  The bottom edges curl... not very comfortable.

We just ordered a few of these in IIIA.

PACA Highlite

I let ya know how I like it in 6 to 8 weeks.

+1 on the ABA (Amer. body armor)  level 3a xtreme vest.  I've been running this vest for about 4 years now and like it.  I had a PACA vest with the S.O.  I worked for prior to my current PD dept. and I didn't find it as comfortable as the ABA vest.

I am currently using a US Armor level IIIa vest and I really like it.

I've used Safariland level IIIa vests in the past (for 4 years) and that one was pretty good too.

They are getting lighter and lighter it seems.

+1 for ABA xtreme IIIA. Also has pocket up front to run the 5x7 Impac S.T. plate made by Safariland.
No edge curling yet, comfortable to wear on my 10 hour shifts, good handgun protection.

Make sure to get it fitted to YOU, not just running a standard size, and you will be happy.

If money isn't an issue, go with a custom made vest. Not everyone has the same body and a S-M-L-XL sizing has it's downside if you are short or tall.

LOVE my PointBlank.  Very comfortable and not really that bad when it comes to holding in body heat.  Took a couple of shifts for it to break in and conform to my body.....first couple of shifts felt like wearing plywood but now I wouldn't trade it.
