| I am street medic and usually manage to avoid gettin into the shit but....While dropping a patient off at the psych hospital a nurse comes running out of the back and asks my partner and I for help. It appears that a patient has cornered a nurse in the lockdown area and is threatning to hit her. As we get into the lockdown area I can see that there is a 70 year old security guard and 2 cna's standing by. The 5 of us get between him and her, allowing for her to escape. As we back out of there the guy attempts to break into the nurses station to get her. As we pushed him back, he grabbed one of the CNA's and proceeded to kick the shit out of him. He then began to choke the poor guy. The other staff members just stood by and watched this happen. I ran up to this shit bag and jumped on his back and attempted a few pressure points but ultimately had to administer the old rear naked choke while my partner took us all to the ground. I had to apply a lot of pressure to get him to let go of the cna but eventually he did. Shit bag is now in jail for 6 counts of assault. I wish we could carry tasers... |

He didn't go out all the way but he did go pretty limp. I heard that he gave some guys at the jail a hard time and was given a similar treatment. The thing that bothers me is the threats he made towards us. "Wait til I see you in public" "What are you going to do then when you don't have a uniform to hide behind" JUst another reason everyone needs to carry, |
In our state knowingly targeting a public official or officer (LE, FF, EMT) who's off duty as a result of interaction on duty is the same offense as if you're in uniform (ups from simple assault to Aggravated) I hope your state has similar codifications.
