Me and a buddy in my detachment are thinking about going up there when we ETS in 2010. She likes the area, I haven't been up there yet, but neither of us know much about the PD. (We are down here at Ft Huachuca.) Any opinions? We both are thinking we should apply soonish (like within six months) but neither one of us know really how long to apply out. Thanks gentlemen. |

They're a small dept. (~350 officers) and they test all the time. There's no limit to the number of times you can apply or how often you can reapply. They also receive applications from around the country, so they may be willing to defer hiring and help you move. From the few I've spoken to, they have nothing negative to say. They're very community oriented due to the area, but they also have their own little "reponse" force and some K9s. Seems nice and quaint. |
Good stuff man, beautiful country down there around Huachuca, I was looking at Sierra Vista as a possible applicant. How do you like the area? |

Good stuff, thank ya gents for the information. I love the Sierra Vista area, its a little on the small side for me, but I love the accessibility to the outdoors. (Hiking, caving, camping, shooting) City has a serious drug and illegal problem. Been several shootings and stabbings fairly recently, seems like to apply here you would have your work cut out for you between the residents and the idiot AIT privates coming from post on the weekends. |
