The department has issued me an AR. Now I'm wanting to add a decent sling plate but I can't do any mods as far as removal of the buffer tube so I need a bolt on. The sling that I will be using is a single-point Troy. I have started looking at the ones by: MI MCTAR-30HD,TD PR-4, and Daniel Defense CAR EZ. If there are others that have been tested let me know. As for the question on the armorers, I am it. The dept has strict standards as to what can be done. That is why I'm having to go with a bolt-on. |

The single point mount sling plate you choose will depend on what type of stock you have. Do you have a collapsible stock or fixed stock? CY6 Greg Sullivan "Sully" SLR15 Rifles TheDefensiveEdge.com |
The D&D CAR EZ is very well made but extrememly poorly designed. If you have a 6 position stock the device will not work. Its got a button on the back of the device and if you push the button you can disconnect the female mount on the buffer tube from the male attachment on the sling. Unfortunately this button is also automatically depressed when you try to fully collapse the stock. The stock will hit the button when its being closed. When this happens the rifle drops muzzle first on your foot or on the concrete (which is terrific for accuracy if you happen to be standing on concrete). I called D&D about this and they had outstanding customer service. They acknowledged the problem and sent me an alternative product free of charge and allowed me to keep the EZ CAR. |

OK guys I have acquired a Tangodown PR-4 for a T&E. As for a sling I'm using a Troy with the HK-style snap hook. I have the QD attachment in the underside hole. I just could not stand the QD attachment to the left side (making contact with my face). Another sling plate I would like to checkout is the MI (Midwest Industries) MCTAR-13. Musts: bolt-on endplate for sling ability to transition to weak-side shooting * as for the sling it is not known which one we'll go with Do you have any other ideas? I have to have this proposal turned into the Chief Tuesday of next week for the budget. Is there anyone else that is using a snap hook sling with a QD plate that a sling is actually supposed to be fed through? |

Why are you transitioning to weak side with a rifle... Generally speaking, you are better off to just lean out a bit farther and get an accurate shot in real time as opposed to trying to switch hands, eyes, etc and then reaquire the target. The time it takes to transition to weak hand is better spent shooting with the strong hand IMO. YMMV. |
