This is what... twice in one year? (officer Johnson) Im getting tired of seeing guys repeat deadly mistakes. My thoughts and prayers will go out to that officer so that he may live and recover, and if not my usual contribution will be set aside for his family. But for christs sake, SEARCH YOUR PRISONERS Check their waistbands, grab some fucking balls, do whatever it takes to make sure that this doesnt happen! |

WoW, thanks for posting the link on that. Now i cant decide whether or not Im happy that the suspect took his own life..... I am definately happy for the officer, this lesson didnt cost him his life. Ill continue to pray for his fast recovery. oh i almost forgot to add: Search your prisoners, grab some nuts, check waistbands, check shoes, check pockets, what ever you have to do... seach your prisoners. I work with a guy that did a couple of years in the jail and he got an arrest tonight and before he got done searching his prisoner i was expecting him to grab the suspect by the ankels and shake him upside down to see what would fall out of his pockets. He checked the guys shoestrings to see if there was anything solid in them. I thought that was clever. |

| I never thought of the shoe string idea. I do however make them take their shoes off and check inside them. I also pull pockets inside out and leave them out so the jailers know I searched them. They still have to redo the search and I hold nothing against that but they like seeing pockets out. Atleast thats what a few have told me. |
That's cause us Screws do that many times a day, day in, day out. It's very easy to get complacent. Also..Wear your damn gloves! I cringe whenever I watch Cops,Swat,etc and see cops searching some scrot with bare hands. I've had 3 co-workers off and on the cocktail because they were pricked by a needle while searching. Don't put your hands anywhere you can't look first. |
My prayers for a speedy recovery for the officer. Really glad they caught the suspect, no matter what condition he was in. EDIT: We take the shoestrings off the shoes. They don't need 'em, plus if they decide to rabbit, it's hard to run in shoes w/o strings. Also, along with the laces, make sure ya'll are checking boots. Most people don't know that if you take out the "cushion" or insole of the boot, there is usually a thin, sharp piece of metal that is used for support. I'll either find a find a picture on the net or take my own to show this. The support bar is usually about 4 to 6 inches long and about 3/4 inch wide. It's more common than most people think and we used them as edged weapons in school. Just FYI... |

Ive got big long goofy monkey arms and i can slip them under by butt and feet and get them in front of me in a hurry. During my police academy i would hide about a dozen handcuff keys on my person and repeatedly bust out of handcuffs as soon as a cadet took their eyes off me. People hated me for it too. Actually i tried it one time when we were practicing building clearing and the academy director took off my belt and re-threaded it through my handcuff chain, then duct taped the key holes over and let me run around like that for a little while. Everyone thought it was halarious and it broke me of the habit of screwing around in cuffs. When i search prisones prior to transport im not looking for pistols, im looking for handcuff keys and crack rocks. If you think small you wont miss anything, even the big stuff like pistols. Aim small miss small. These guys that are getting shot are shy to check the front waistband and groin area and you can miss stuff easy when its hidden behind these large blinged out belt buckles that some the "country ghetto" thugs are wearing now. Oh yeah, and grab some fucking nuts! |
