Brothers,

We have lost another one.  This evening in St. Louis, one of our bretheren was shot and killed on the north side of St. Louis.  He was shot once on the left side of his body.  The shot went through his left arm pit under the body armor and tore through his heart.  The sound of his screams for help over the radio put a chill inside me.

He was 22 years old.  Graduated from the police academy in Dec of 2006 (still a probationary officer).

Rather than go into what happened, let's remember him.  I am not adding his name yet because it has not been officially released yet.

Join me in prayer.  God speed brother.  Your time in hell is over.

I went to St. Louis University back in October for an investigations course.  I met a few of the locals while staying at Union Station.  Good guys all of them, working a city I damn sure would not want to without artillery support.

DAMNIT, RIP God Speed Brother

Way to young.....

It looks like KSDK has released the info:

www.ksdk.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=126999

Officer Brown was shot in the back of his left shoulder. He was pronounced dead around 11 p.m. after life-saving attempts, Mokwa said.

Mokwa said it appeared Officer Brown was trying to detain a suspect.

"It appears as though he was engaged in some police activity. We don't know all the details at this point. He was shot in the chest. He was wearing body armor," Mokwa said.

Mokwa said it appears a bullet went through a "vulnerable" area that wasn't protected by the vest. Brown was alone on patrol when he was shot.

Officer Brown joined the department as a recruit in March of 2006. In November, he graduated from the police academy. He was coach for the Police Athletic League. Officer Brown received a Chief's Letter of Commendation in June, 2007. Click here to read that letter.

Officer Brown was a 2003 graduate of Vashon High School.

He is the fifth St. Louis police officer to die in the line of duty since 2000.

Looks like the shooter is a 15 year old male, that specifically wanted to shoot a cop.  They also charged a 18 year old (I think that was his age) with giving him the pistol, but only charged him with a misdemeanor since he had no knowledge of what the gun was going to be used for.

Just got back from the funeral.  It was a good turnout of support.  Real tearjerker when his casket was taken out of the hearse.
