Well guys, I may be gettin over worked and worried about nothing, but I firmly believe I got some bad news today... Friday morning around 0600 we were doing PT before the academy.. Well apparently I got bit by a spider and didn't know it. Saturday had a bruise-like place come up on my leg, about the size of a half dollar. Today I woke up and was doubled over and vomiting/dry-heaving... Supervisor had me go to the doc, and he said he thinks it's a black widow. Gave me meds and all that crap, but that's not the kicker... We start the range tomorrow for the next 2 weeks... We can't be under any medications that might affect shooting. If I take them and don't let anyone know, i'm most likely gone... If i tell the instructors that I'm on them, i'm most likely gone... If i don't take the meds and it gets worse, yeah... most likely gone... No idea what to do from here out... This is my career over a friggin spider bite.. |

IF it was a BW bite your whole body would be in PAIN(but the bite itself is painless when it happens), and they give antivenom for a BW bite,or you chose to tough it out for a while could be a day could be two weeks.. at most the meds they gave you are probably antibiotics and should not hinder you in any way... Prayers to get you through bro.. |

+1 for the above... Just call the Doc that gave you the meds and ask what it was he gave you, what are they for, and what are the side effects. I, personally, never let anybody give me anything with out me knowing those things... Mainly b/c im stubborn, dont know if Im allergic to it, and I just want to know what the hell its getting put into my body! |

Thanks guys... I waited 3 days before I saw a doc, and this morning woke up in severe pain, so I'm hopin he's on the right track... He gave me an antibiotic, Cephalexin, ummm, Methocarbamol for muscle cramps b/c I wasn't able to stand up for a while today i was cramped up so bad, and Promethazine for nausea b/c I was vomiting when I woke up as well... I also got a tetanus booster b/c I'm not sure how long it's been since my last. The site itself is about the size of your wrist, with a small red mark in the center, which was raised up until today... Around the red mark it looks like a nasty bruise... He said he's dealt with a few and that he was fairly certain that it was a BW judging by my symptoms but that it's hard to know if I didn't get it... Thanks again guys! |

Remember: Let your staff know exactly what is going on with you, for good or bad. They are paid to facilitate your training, not to wash you out. We have plenty of recruits endure setbacks in training both physical and academic. The strong recover and come back. Training can be made up. Bodies heal. Chicks dig scars. |
