| Hey there folks, I had one hell of a night tonight. In the last four hours of my shift we had four 330 calls (shooting). Been a busy night in South Florida. All gang related drive by shootings. Two rival gangs. IMP versus Sur 13. IMP is a local gang. Sur 13 is an offshot of MS-13. Mara Salvatrucha is one nasty gang from South America. Sur means south, so Sur 13 is the southern branch of Mara Salvatrucha. They target law enforcement so if you run across these guys. Watch your six. |

yeah, be careful on those gang related scenes. don't know your background, but you may want to check in with your gang unit on the details. Sur 13 is a Mexican based gang originally from southern CA (hence the name "Surenos", with the numeral 13 to signify the 13th letter 'M' for Mexicanos). they are typically at odds with the Mexican based gangs from northern CA (the "Nortenos"). the El Salvador based gang Mara Salvatrucha (roughly translated as "the beautiful Salvadorans" with the "13" as a gang signifier for the 'M' in "Mara") is definitely bad news due to the direct ties back to their homeland where weapon stores and military training are the norm. typically, these MS-13 members are at odds with the Mexican gangs. here's some intel for all from the FL DOC: www.dc.state.fl.us/pub/gangs/index.html |
