Hello Guys,
My GF's brother is graduating from the State Police Accademy in a month and I am just wondering what is a good gift to get for him. I am very close with him and would like to get him something that is both nice and possibly something he can use. So far I was thinking about getting him a benchmade knife. Any other suggestions?
Thank Alot

How about a 1911?

If that is out of your budget a good knife would be great.

I would like to keep it under $200. A 1911 is what I want when I graduate the accademy

Get him a pair of Peerless hinged cuffs and engrave his name, Academy info  and graduation date on them. . .

A St. Michaels might be a good start. Then maybe a good rechargable flashlight. How about an engraved leather ticket book. I got one last year ( I aint no rookie) but I really like it. It has my name and badge engraved on it.

I think you were on the right track with the engraved benchmade.

Get him a Gerber 600 Pro Scout.  It's something he'll use nearly every day.  Getting one with the tool kit would be a plus.

Gear bags. Good, heavy duty waterproof, big, with a shoulder strap.   Alternatively, a good solid briefcase.

St Michael charm, first and formost.

A nice flashlight or Multi Tool are nice and will always be used.

Back up weapon (or at least money towards it/gift cert) would be a really nice gesture.

If he has all the practical things taken care of, back up gun, second flashlight (small preferably), and gear bag etc, then I would consider something nice to have.

The best graduation presents I got were a St. Michael's medal and a challenge coin with my Agency's logo on it.  My wife got me the medal and a friend in my agency got me the challenge coin.  I don't know where he got it from but it's really cool.  And if I ever get the chance to go out for a few drinks with my squad mates, I will put it to use.

Cheap Benchmade                   40

Cheap surefire G2 flashlight    35

extra pair of Hiatt hinged cuffs 30

Oakley SI boots                        150

Glock 26 or 27                          400 and some change from a LE distributer

Off duty holster                          20 to 100 dollars depending on uncle mikes - Kramer horsehide

Any combination of the above!!

My department doesn't issue shoulder mikes for our radios.  We buy our own. They cost about $90, and not only do they get used many times a day, I think they increase officer safety.  You'll have to be sure what radio his department uses.  They also may issue them.

A thick skin and a short memory. If those aren't available, a GC to a copshop...

The gear bag I think is a great idea, as well as countless others in here.  If you want to stay under $200, then I would definitely consider the gear bag, flashlights, handcuffs or any of those items.  The st michaels medals are always nice as well.  My gift was a duty belt, and that was because the dept I was on at the time didn't have a gear allowance.

Well see if you can find out what he'll get from his dept. from an officer that works there.

I like the gear bag idea, the second set of handcuffs, a nice surefire rechargeable.
