Hey people. I have a friend who has some problems with an ex-boyfriend of hers. He keeps e-mailing her threatening letters. I already showed her how to block e-mails and just try to ignore him. She has already tried to get a restraining order against him but they wouldn’t give one to her. She said she would try again soon though. But is there anything else I can do legally to put an end to this?

What service is he using to send the Emails?  Have her fprward some of the letters to the service provider stating the fact that he is sending threatening/harrassing emails.  They should close his account.

Have her file police reports on every (each one) of the threatening emails. They may never get prosecuted and then if a officer calls up to do a follow up it might back him off. Otherwise it is building
a case for harssment or stalking depending on your states staute. With police reports being filed it is harder for them not to give a protective order.

See if you can talk the officer into sending an email from his department address.  I do this every once in a while, nothing fancy or nasty, just a note to tell them the authorities are involved.

+2  That's the only way to force the courts into action.

Thank you guys for your input. I already told her the advice and she really appreciates it. But of course keep any other ideas coming for future reference. And thanks again.
