Currently I am a Dispatcher for a local dept. I am also a volly FF/EMT. Anyway this fall I am going to the Academy to get my Tcleose, and eventually move into the Deputy position. Well tonite My dad, mom and I were at dinner and we were talking about me going to the academy. Ofcourse knowing me firearms came up

. My dad {ret. houston pd} told me when I graduate the academy his gift to me will be his duty weapon. SIG P220 .45 He said he would be proud to give it to me to use as my duty weapon. though it will be atleast one year before I am done in the academy I still feel I should share it with you guys. Any of you LEOs have a similar experiance, or passing the torch moment?

Thats great. Something of you Dads you will carry just about everyday, and Dad can say my kid is packing my old side arm. Outstanding!

My dad, brother, and I work for the same agency. When I graduated from the academy, my dad pinned my badge and my brother presented me with my credentials. My dad also pinned my brother's badge when he graduated.

My dad got busted for meth production my rookie year. That wasn't the present Ihad hoped for...
