Do people really think cops are truly Barney Fife ignorant? Burglary call. Go to the 25yo victims house for a report. He tells me his house was broken into. He shows me the back door of his nicer 4yo home. He had a set of french style doors in the back where a panel of glass next to the knob was painstakingly removed without damaging the door and set in the grass. No further signs of entry/tool marks/etc... The only thing missing was his full bottle of prescription painkillers from the bathroom and a few DVDs. The other 200+ DVDs, jewelery, TV and goodies were fine. He, too was amazed at the kind burgler who took the time to remove the glass and pick out only the DVDs he wanted. He needed a crime report for his doctor to refill his meds. His arraignment for filing a false false report is next month. Glad I was tied up on this brain surgeon's caper while legit reports stack up. ![]() [/rant off] |

Not staged, but just as stupid. Last night we had 4 separate shootings, so the ER was busy and we had a Sgt. there doing the law enforcement "triage", sending available units to potential crime scenes. After a while of looking at possible scenes, I decide to head to the ER and speak to the victim myself. (Bad move, got dumped the call So I contact the guy, who has a frigging bullet in his head (you know, all the gangsters and shit can get shot up, stabbed, thrown out 3 story windows and still live, you me or anyone else gets dead from a grazing wound infection......). He can hardly see, but tells me a very convincing story about how he had just gotten into an argument with his girl, so he gets a motel room and is playing with some 32. ammo he has. So, in his frustration he tosses one of the rounds to the floor and it detonates, with the bullet somehow hitting him in the BACk of the head.... He stuck to this story for a good 30 minutes or so. ![]() What a dumbass. |

We get quite a few BS calls. In one case, the "victim" wished me to believe that the perpetrator gained enrty through the back door, walked past three televisions, one with a DVD player, a shotgun in plain view, and and the very front of the house selected the Rent-A-Center DVD player to steal, then walked back through the entire house and left the way he came. Loads of rental property gets "stolen" in "burglaries" around here. Prescriptions get "taken" a bit too, but not quite as often. (They are more often taken in "robberies." The really sad part is that quite a few of our patrol officers just take the report, and don't even question the asshats or call a defective (most of whom *will* put the liar to the test.) |
