| Congratulations..This was once a great Career..now it's just another job...my advice to any of you who are just getting in the Business...DON'T...do anything else. Nobody wants the Police to be the Police anymore..one mistake and they will throw you under the Political Bus. |

He goes on that her foot is red and there is a tire mark but he only wants to know if the kid can drive the cart. I wanted to clarify before I answered so I did some checking and called him back. Basically, it appears the kid was on private property and was old enough to operate the golf cart. So the father starts saying I'm pro golf cart and the kids dad is a cop so I must know him..... I stop him and said, "Look, I don't know who you are talking about, I told you I was gathering information to write a report and I'll go talk to the other parties". So the father basically says that he doesn't want to get the cops involved, he only wanted to know the law so he can talk to the father of the driver. OKay...I emailed him the traffic law book that has charts of vehicles that do and do not need a driver's license and sent him the statute that I was referenced to go with it and tell him to call back if he needs further assistance. Well the guy called back the next night because his daughter's foot is fractured and he accused me of not taking a report... FUK YOU ASSHOLE! I tried take a report from you and you did not want it. And the conversation was recorded so eat sh*t. Back in the old days, this would have been handled at the Sgt level who, more than likely would tell the guy to FO even before he listened to the tapes. After that...LOL. But sadly, no more. EVERY complaint at my agency goes to IA. They turn the stupidest stuff into a five-alarm crusterfluck. It's even worse when you got a Consent Decree and a Federal Judge hanging over your every move though, we'll see bout that with the "new" Federal Admins..... I know your pain, Brother. Pulled the pin almost ten ago. Love retirement!! |

I got out last year. Made it through 27 years, some good times, a lot of bad times. Got to do some really cool stuff, but my time was up. Couldn't take the drama and in fighting anymore. Cops going after each other over complete bullshit, just to get a one-up for the next promotional exam. That thin blue line is barely visible anymore. Not the same profession it was when I started. Glad I'm out. I do miss the fight, though.... but not enough to go back. My paycheck shows up the first of month like clockwork,,, while sitting on the couch in my underwear. It's a glorious thing. Enjoy retirement! You've earned it. |

When I started at my agency the job was what I had imagined and it was tons of fun. Years later the entire administration changed and the job became more of a sparring match with the brass than just doing a good job as it had previously been. Once that occurred most of the senior officers at the agency realized that the way to survive was to just keep your head down and try to avoid the administration. The brass felt the need to keep changing things so they could appear valuable to whoever was above them. Just about the time we adjusted to the new administrations weird rules and changes in policy, they would again change rules and policy. Even though the laws hadn't changed, the job became an effort to keep up with the changes in policy and play politics. I was asked to apply for one of the promotional positions that would put me closer to the administration and I said "not a chance". It was the correct decision. |

Good admin retired, the wishy washy types moved up, top leadership all changed, and things dropped like a rock. And it keeps dropping. Agency got so bad that nobody at the Sgt level would put in for LT on one side of the house, and on the other side one year Sgt’s were the only ones putting in…. 25 years, most of it on the street, almost all on nights/afternoons, side responsibilities in training, traffic, crashes, swat, and riot control. Stayed at Sgt by choice. Busy all the time, and enjoyed what I did. Been out for 5 years. Crazy thing is that my old agency, as crummy as it currently is (compared to the old days), it is seen as a better agency than a lot nearby, so it gets a lot of laterals coming in. Back in the day it was a kick ass place to work, if you liked digging and fighting crime. Pretty sad what has happened with law enforcement these days in many places. LE is one of the biggest victims of the progressive movement for sure…. |

| Retired at the rank of Lieutenant after 20 years and 4 months. The mayor and the city council ruined the progressive agency that we had built; wanted the good 'ol boy system back in place. Favors for friends, friends of friends, etc. Could care less about the safety of the city and wanted their own private army to take care of their own and strongarm those who opposed. I guess that's a problem with smaller agencies, very little oversight. I did my time, retired honorably and never looked back. |

Congratulations. Now go live your life and live a long time! I’m asked, ‘why retire at 50?’ Because I could. Because my wife has cancer and I’m going to spend time with her. Because this job sucks nowadays. Because. I’ve been collecting that monthly direct deposit for about 11 years now. By working 15-20 hours a week, during the daylight, not on the weekend, I make the same money as when I worked full time. F them. That’s why. Carry on. |

Cross over to the federal side, they are kicking ass but they are going to have to probably need a presidential pardon before the next democrat takes office because the dems are vowing to take revenge on them for enforcing the law. Take the job and do the liberals bidding or you will be doxxed and prosecuted. |
