Hi guys,
I've prowled here too long, time to get involved.
I will graduate the academy in late April, and have already been given a job offer.  It will involve foot patrol of a large, busy area.  I'm gonna need some good foot wear.  What would you veterans suggest?
Thanks,
Jason

It kinda depends on what they will let you wear.  I like the new Danner GTX boots with Gore-Tex lining.  I also like the Danner Acadia.  When I used to walk a lot, I wore Nike cross-trainers or something similar.
You might also want to look at the shoes mail carriers wear.  They have a uniform appearance and the mail carriers obviously put in a lot of miles wearing them.

I wore Hi-Tech magnums for 10 years. They do the job well. I switched about a year ago to Original SWAT boots, but wont buy those again. They dont seem to last.

I might try the Bates offering. The Danner product seems to heavy for everyday use. (I do have a pair of Matterhorn, awesome boots) Or, I might go back to Hi-Tecs.

I dont wear anything but 8 or 10 inch boots at work, for safety purposes. Unless of course I'm wearing shorts.

About a year ago I discovered that that Dr. Scholls makes a walking shoe based on their sport arch support insole.  Its a black leather upper that is very comfortable for extended periods of foot patrol.

Of course, this depends on what your dept. lets you wear.

I am a CO at a large state prison. I am on my feet 8-16 hours a day.  After lots of different boots I wear Danner Ft. Lewis model with gore tex liner in the winter, Acadia in the summer without gore tex.  Most comfort and wore to work without break in.  Well worth the money.

I've got a pair of bates enforcers.  They are fairly comfortable, until I've been in them for a busy 24 hour shift.  I don't do nearly the walking you will do though.

hi tech magnums work for me. Make sure you get the steel toed ones. I don't believe in spending a fortune for boots. face it, we rarely get out of the car. And when we do wear out a pair of boots, it's the soles that wear out first. Then they become the motorcycle riding boots!!!!

Years back I was on a downtown foot patrol. The jungle boots didn't cut Michigan winter temps. I bought a pair of Danner Fort Lewis. Liked em so much I got a second pair. These 2 pair of boots lasted over 9 years with good care an resoling. 3 years ago I found some other Danners on sale; bought 2 more pair. I gave the old pairs to a Tow Truck who is still wearing a pair. Last fall I went looking for an AR15. The price was too high. I did however get a good deal on a blemished pair of Danner's. Get the idea.
