Hey guys, I'm looking for a tint meter to get for my buddy for his birthday. Any suggestions on brand? I've used the TM100 by Laser Labs in the past and don't remember ever having issues with it.
Also open to used ones if you have any leads. Thanks! |

TM100 is pretty much the standard around here, and is one of a handful approved by FL for LEO usage. Mine has run fine for a few years and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it Cool thanks for the response! I just noticed there is a mini version of the TM100. Any insight on that one? |

Tint meter? I look at it this way. I have all my truck windows tinted dark (which is tech illegal in Michigan). I don't stop/write tickets to others for stuff I do. J- It's a very rarely enforced section here There are some cars running around here that probably should be cited just because the glass is almost pitch black, but they don't issue us meters or even those cards you hold up against the glass |

If you want it I can email it to you. |

J- That strikes me as a pretty fair way of doing things. Personally as a juror I look at something and if I would have done the same thing under the same circumstances the guy walks. I suppose this is part of the reason I never get jury duty which sucks. |

I've got a TM-100 too, had it for probably 5-6 years now and its works fine for checking windows that roll down.
And while my window tint is legal, and while I have never written anybody a citation for window tint, I do find the meter to be an invaluable tool for establishing reasonable suspicion for a traffic stop and affirming my probable cause for that stop should I get an arrest out of it. Don't want to get hassled by the cops for your window tint? Don't have tint with less than a 25% light transmission in Tx.... |

So you must not write speeding citations either...........good job. Quoted:

Just find it hypocritical to ticket someone for something that I do in my personal life. J- |

On a side note, the only place that does windows in my area refuses to go below the legal level. It's not like they are on the hook for it. When I got my windows done in 2012 in NY the guy at the shop said "You're going to get stopped all the time". Not really, until I moved down south.
