| I recently took the test for another police department. The test is I think called the Standard Police Test. It has four self-scoring sections that show up on a carbon with the correct answers so that the guy that scores it already has the answers when he checks it and a handwriting part based on a sample police report on the last page. On the cover is a generic badge and a INS symbol and printed in green on the cover. I took the same test in January for another department, but all we were told is if we passed or failed (I was one of 5 that passed it out of 18). We did not find out what our score was. I took it for this other department on Saturday and yesterday the assistant chief told me I scored a 91 on it. I am assuming this is good since you needed a 70 to pass, but I need some other input. Thanks in advance. |

Don't know about this test as it has been awhile since I have taken one. But what I use to do was to get to know the ladies (not being sexist, it's just they were all women) in the personal departments. I mean Human Resources Dept. Then when I showed up they let me know my scores. I missed the cut on a Firefighters test once. Talked to the ladies, found out I scored a 93 on it without studying. 20 students from the Fire Training School scored higher. Give it a try. ED |
| I think that my fiance would have a problem with me doing that, but it is a good idea if I was single. The assistant chief for the department said that I did good after he told me the score. I guess I need to go out to the city and see if I can see the standings on everybody that took the test. |

ED MAN, that sucks! First time I tested for the City, they asked questions off of 3x5 cards, such as... a) What makes you think you could be a FF for the City? b) Why do you want to (be a FF)? c) How do you relieve stress after a difficult call? My answers? 1st time... a) I'm physically strong, and motivated. (blah blah "PC talk") b) I want to help people c) I work out and exercise Scored 14 out of 28. 2nd time around? (2 years later) a) I already am (surprised jaw drops all around) - I explained that I was on the 1st due mutual aid company for the City, and I just wanted to change employers, 'cause I liked the action in the City. b) Good pension, and changing from a 24/24 to a 24/48 schedule would improve my love life and my outside employment possibilities. c) I BS with the other guys in the FD and PD - odds are they've seen similar calls, and can relate to any difficulties I'm encountering. In addition, I work out, which is a good stress reliever. If it's still bugging me, I'll have a few drinks at bar X or Y (insert local watering holes here) Scored 3 out of 18. Hired two months later. (Of course, I scored 344 out of 1800 in Milwaukee - unfortunately, found out later they hired to 334, then posted a new list [:)]) |
