Hi all,
Anyone know what options exist for doing a license plate lookup in the state of Missouri? I was involved in an incident today on the road and unfortunately the issue cannot be adequately addressed through law enforcement SOP. I need to find personal contact information from a license plate number so that I can tactfully and responsibly address this problem. Thanks, Jimmy |

WHY can't it be addressed thru Law Enforcement SOP? The police have enumerated two options: 1. Press charges. In this case probably the most they will be found guilty of is disturbing the peace, and it will be their word against mine. Them being sh*thead punks, they will lie about events. It's likely that it will be a big waste of my time. 2. Do nothing Neither option is acceptable. The police cannot or will not do anything about this situation. Someone needs to let these punks know that harassment of random motorists and reckless driving is unacceptable. It appears that fate has decreed that I am that someone, simple as that. |

Or you could just let it go and not invite the man into your life. |

| Yeah I expected negative responses after explaining my motivation. So judging from the responses it's better to let it go. But what you're really saying is to let it go until someone is harmed. Then once someone is harmed, don't let it go. That's basically the same advice I got from the police I spoke with. I disagree with this notion that the best course of action is to wait until someone is harmed or there is property damage to do something about the problem. At that point it's too late. Call me a hothead or whatever other cute names, it doesn't change the fact that it's just plain wrong. |

Thanks for asking a reasonable question and going against what seems to be the popular consensus to ask it. It's very disappointing to see so many folks in here protecting the perps and persecuting the good guys. Anyway, the perps (young men) were harassing random people on the road. This was more than a typical road rage / young-kids-being-bored scenario. Probably the worst I've seen. Driving in an extremely reckless manner to the point of being downright dangerous, swerving their car to feint ramming other vehicles, flipping people off, etc. I was able to determine that the owner of the car is most likely a grandparent. My plan is to contact the grandparent and explain that little Johnny is using the grandparent's car to harass people and is putting them (and himself) at serious risk of causing an accident. The grandparent's reaction should help indicate if any further action is warranted. |

Wouldn't fly in my jurisdiction. Swerving the vehicle and driving in a reckless manner is C&I..short for Careless and Imprudent driving....or whatever your area calls it. |

No, the best action is to grow a pair of balls and get a warrant on the guy and take it to court. Let the judge put them in line. You really think they're going to listen to you? |

So the LEOs can't communicate to the owner of the vehicle that theres been a complaint and they need to stop whatever it is they're doing? |

Taking legal action against someone has to have some sort of a documentable offense, a victim, etc Stop getting your ideas of proper recourse from watching old Charles Bronson movies |
