For Department Vehicles:

What do you ride?

How well are your motorcycles maintained?

How do you treat your motorcycle? (Honestly)

Where would one look to find motorcycles that departments are auctioning off to the public?

Do you ride your own motorcycle for fun, or just the departments for work?

Thanks for waving back.

For Department Vehicles:

What do you ride?  FLTHPI, 2008, 42k miles

How well are your motorcycles maintained?  serviced every 5k by a private (Non-HD dealer - had nothing but bad luck with HD dealerships)

How do you treat your motorcycle? (Honestly)     Like it was my own.  Only difference is how I treat the paint...I would never wipe dirt, etc off my personal bike while only using spray cleaner/polish.  On the work motor I don't give it a second thought.

What you do need to realize is that a police motor is going to be ridden harder and through more varied enviornments (think down stairs, off curbs, gravel roads, dirt hills, mud, etc) than the typical motorcycle is.  Riding like that can be rough on the motorcycle.

Where would one look to find motorcycles that departments are auctioning off to the public?  Good question.  I have seen agencies in my area use Ebay though.

Do you ride your own motorcycle for fun, or just the departments for work?  I sold my personal '07 Ultra Classic last Summer.  I just didn't ride it.  Spending 8+ hours a day in the saddle working doesn't make me want to ride on my own.

Thanks for waving back.
Sorry, I don't wave...I do give a head nod.    I think most motorcyclists are better served keeping their hands on their handlebars.  It helps them duckwalk their motorcycles at stoplights and such.

"Oh look he must be riding to Sturgis."
