OUCH! Probably more true than one knows.........for I did have a civilian once call me Hitler in my immediate vicinity; the military spouses didn't like me either. Mom often wondered why I filled my head with such things and scoffed when I went to the trunk of my car and tossed my Swiss Army knife in before entering a terminal; "I've never heard of anything so ridiculous!" (t'was in the last century).
The kids image was probably more of that of my troops (was once, at least, referred to as a Krypton); not sure how the kids saw me, though. Further, it was the 80's, and this was more how I saw as what I did.
