As some of you know I can be a pretty perverse soul.
After I posted my earlier blog entry it made me wonder what would have happened IF. Picture this: Officer "Move that truck or else." Joe Citizen: "Or else what?" O: "Or else I'll write you a ticket for $100." Joe: "Let's see now...If I stay here it is going to cost me a hundred bucks. If I leave my wife who is in that store she will never let me hear the end of it. I can make the $100 by working an overtime shift or I can listen to her bellyache over how I left her standing for the next thirty years. This is a no brainer. I guess I am going to have to ask you to write the ticket. I ain't going to have to lay in my casket after I die and have her tell everyone at my wake that I ditched her in a store!" Deal with this.

Tow would be in order, as well as a Fail to Comply citiation... You must be single. Quoted:

I'd reward the honesty with a bit of a break. No need to be a dick, the guy was being totally honest. How often does anyone out there see that. Hahaha Spoken by a married man! I can speak from experience because I have had this happen (except I don't say "Or Else", but someone refusing to move). We have a 'No Tolerance" No Parking zone. That means there are no exceptions, you cannot be there and I have to move you if you are. I don't particularly enjoy that aspect of my job, but it's part of it. First, I will ask you to move. If you don't, I will write a citation and then TELL you to move (because I've already asked once, no longer going to be nice about it). If you continue to stay, I tow your vehicle, and write a Fail to Comply citation. I am married thanks . This has nothing to do with my home life, as stated, I have to enforce it. Not by choice.

Tow would be in order, as well as a Fail to Comply citiation... Was on A Volunteer Fire dept for27 years. Sometimes a Deputy Sheriff would ORDER us to move our Fire trucks . We would just laugh at them. It would never happen until we were done. Of course this deputy usually did not know that the Sheriff belonged to our fire department, and was a active member as time allowed.
Also had a deputy tell me when I was Fire Chief he was going to give one of my drivers a ticket for going through a stop sign with relights and sirens. Before I stopped laughing a State trooper took this deputy aside and had a talk with him. Seems a burning building was more important that a stop sign.
Now that I am done picking on you guys. I cannot tell you how many times we turned around and found one you doing what ever was need. This would be at accidents, fire calls, and medical calls. Far and away you guys were there when we needed you so Thanks. |

I can't imagine those "Deputy's" lasted long or they learned real fast. My statements do not apply to public safety vehicles.... obviously |
