Anybody familiar with the HBO series "the wire"?
Couple guys at work were talking about it. What's it about and is it worth watching? Thanks, stay safe. -bg |
| That show is very good. One of the more accurate shows about working for a PD in a major city. It does a good job of showing all the political corruption, the influence of inner city ministers and the brass. Every season is good except for a few. There are tons of funny scenes and stuff that only a few will appreciate. |

My favorite series ever, and I normally hate cop shows. Sometimes I swear they based the series off my department, and I don't even work for Baltimore PD. To think that The Wire is only a "cop show" sells it so short. I never meant to imply that it was. My point is it actually captured the realities of the job, unlike the other garbage hollywood puts out. |

Doc. one question Is it common slang by you to not use the phrase cop? It seemed like everyone used Police in exchange. Like, 'Hes a good Police' or I'm a Police etc. is that standard talk down there? |

| I made a nice piece of change when the series was filmed as there had to be "real Police" making sure the streets were closed off and the equipment the production crew used didn't grow feet and "walk away" Some of the stuff was "televisionized" but the grilling that some of the bosses put the District Commanders through at Comstat was 100% on target. Another thing they got right was the political BS |
