Budget cuts, lower property taxes & revenue, the normal sucky economy has caused some inventive thinking at my department.

This next budget year is going to be bleak also. No capital expenses.

We are out of vehicles for the patrol fleet.
The Chief has a low mileage Tahoe.
Solution: Chiefs Tahoe goes to the patrol fleet.
Chief needs a car to drive.
Traffic Unit has a grant funded Charger. The grant period is up, we can do with the Charger what we want to now.
Abolish the Traffic Unit, Charger goes to Chief.
Create the Motor Unit, Harley goes to Traffic Unit guy.
Impact monies pay for Motor Unit since it is a newly created program.

Good by old friend.

Motor work was the most fun I've had as a policeman.  Have fun, keep your head on a swivel, and keep the shiny bits up!

Remember, it isn't IF you will crash. It is just when.

Eons ago I rode a Harley 3 wheeleer that basically ran off straight pipes (Translates to IT WAS LOUD AS SHIT) I was sitting at a light on this thing that was painted in a two tone paint job and when we wore white shirts over navy trousers. Helmets were white with reflector blue trim.  At any rate a female type person sitting in the lane to my right decided to turn left when the light changed and claimed she didn't see me when I panic stopped and pulled her over. With the helmet on I was at least 6'2 and while I 'm not going tell you my weight, let's say I was never late for dinner. I wrote her a few tickets and decided pretty much right then that I wasn't driving the trike or the Cushman scooter again. I either got a car or a ride to my post and walked. I was a good footman and never got cold, wet or hungry. Be careful on that bike because some IDIOT will say to the guy investigating youraccident that they didn't see you.
