Gents,

Need to get some information on short term leasing of used 'ghost' vehicles for surveillance/narcotics work. I have an idea on how to make the program work, and one of the biggest resources in place, but if anyone has administrated a program like this in their department, please let me know.

Contact me via PM.

Look for temporary use agreements. You can use private companies. Dealerships, tow yards, rental companies, etc. The biggest issue is YOUR legal dept. and how the release will be covered, along with any insurance coverage or responsibility.

Check with your local dealerships. Ours will let us use almost any used car on the lot.

Same as the quotes above, when I worked narcotics we were loaned vehicles from dealerships, used trade ins, and from repair shops that had a shop car to run around in.

That's exactly what I'm looking at, but I'm looking for some sort of agreement to formalize it, and shield us and them from liability by us 'owning' the vehicle.

Thanks guys, I appreciate all the comments. I've tried to reply to the IM's, and I'm checking in to the paperwork that a few guys are going to be sending me. I'll also check out temporary use agreements. Y'all are exactly on track with what I'm looking to do, just trying to put some legal paperwork behind the idea to protect both us and the vehicle source.
