Agent Brian Terry was shot and killed today in AZ. He was my roomate at the academy back when we first joined the patrol. Keep his family in your prayers and I hope they catch the bastards that did this.

Damm, I grew up in that area, Rio Rico AZ, hunted in Peck Canyon where the BP Agent was killed.
Sorry for the loss of Agent Terry, it sucks... Lived there when Customs Agents Bokinskie & Dixon were killed in 1974. My Dad was a Customs Agent. To much of this shit going on. We just buried Deputy Coates here in Florida yesterday. Polk County Sgt. killed by a run away car that slammed into him this past weekend. |

OP, I knew Brian from when I was a BP Contractor out of Tucson / Nogie. He was a good guy, and one that will be forever missed.
The AP article says that BP is declining to release the nationality of the suspects in custody. Hmm... this won't go good. Stay safe brother and watch your six out there. -SS

It was a very emotional day yesterday. I attending the funeral and the burial service. We had easily 100+ marked units leading the procession. There were uniform and non-uniformed officers and agents from all over the country and Canada at the funeral. DPD had 7 mile road closed off between Telegraph and Berg. The Patriot Guard lined the entrance to the Greater Grace Temple. There were easily 500 uniformed officers and agents lined up on both sides of the circle to the entrance of the tunnel. Coast Guard, CBP helo's flew over head. Inside the stage was set up with flowers and large picture of Brian. When Brain arrived, with the honors of the Border Patrol Honor Guard (and all in attendance) you could hear a pin drop. There were hundreds and hundreds of people there. Brains life long friend, a local police officer, gave a cheerful eulogy about Brians life, he spoke for another friend as well. Border Patrol Chief Michael Fisher spoke. US CBP Commissioner Alan Bersin spoke. His words were powerful, moving and couldn't be more clear. DHS Seceratry Janet Napolitano spoke as well. There was not a dry eye in the temple when they conducted the Tuscon Sector BORTAC roll call. I have never witnessed it before. The procession to the cemetery was miles long, lead by BP marked units, then CBP marked units, then local, etc marked units. The coast guard Dolphin helicopter flew the route with us. All of telegraph road was closed from 7 mile all the way down river. As we got closer to Flat Rock, we saw more and more American Flags and people lining the streets. There were children standing in the cold with flags and signs wishing his family well and thanking Brian for being a hero. It was windy, cold and damp at the cemetery. Flat Rock Fire department erected one of their ladder units with a massive American flag as we entered the cemetery. The Marines Hymn was played along with Taps was by the BP Honor Guard, bagpipes and drums. The Marines did the 21 gun salute and there was a missing man formation that flew overhead. CBP Air and Marine along with the Coast Guard flew their rotorwing units about 300' above. The actual burial was private with direct family and invited guests only. Brian's friend that spoke in the eulogy told us that Brian was the type of warrior that knew that if he was aware that he would perish that night, he would still suit up and go look for it and die with honor. Under the pictures of Brian, there was an Ernest Hemingway quote: Certainly there is no hunting like the hunting of man and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never really care for anything else thereafter. It was a beautiful and emotional day for everyone. I read on a note that some local kids had all written for the Terry family: America lost a man, but God gained an angel. Here is link for one of the local news that was there: http://www.wxyz.com/dpp/news/region/detroit/funeral-in-detroit-for-border-patrol-agent-killed-in-arizonia RIP Brian, Semper Fi. |
