Well 2011 is around the corner, and the Erie County Tactical Task Force (ECTTF)will be organizing its annual SWAT Competition. I am the Vice President of the Task Force and I am in charge of organizing the event. Recently the ECTTF President, who is also a representative for us in the NYTOA (NY Tactical Officers Assn) had a meeting and the NYTOA who gave a positive inclination that they would like to get involved and infuse some life in to it with manpower and funds.
We have run the competition here locally for 6 years (Western NY) at our training facility with mostly Tactical teams in the WNY region, we would like to "open" it up and expand the enrollment. Typically we have had anywhere from 6 to 12 teams compete, including the Military, Local, State and Federal Law Enforcement Agencies. We are looking in to getting a second venue site for accommodating additional teams and events. Last year we only had 6 teams compete, and had about 7 vendors displaying equipment, uniforms, etc...This year we would like to get this turned around, Out of State LEAs are welcome, one team from FL has already expressed interest. I'm posting this to see if any LE Agencies would be interested in attending the 2011 event. Space will be limited depending on securing a 2nd site, which I am 90% I have secured. By our Jan 2011 meeting we will have more specifics on Team slots. The Event will be held on Sept 16th, and possibly also on the 15th depending on Events and number of teams competing. Anyone who is/may be interested can IM me and I can give you more details and contact information. Thank You and stay safe. -CP |

IM sent Got it I sent you an IM back. I will update this Post as we get more information. For example: We are changing up some of the courses for the Team Events so that the Teams that competed last year don't have an unfair advantage over new comers. We are putting together a flier, which I can send out once completed.....probably in February. Any team that is interested I can send you a registration form and a "copy" of the events, ounce we finalize the changes. We will be having Representatives from the ECTTF at the NYTOA Conference....which I believe is in May, and they will also be promoting the SWAT Competition. Some basic Information I can give you to get started: Team Info: 1. You will need a total of 7 Team members to Compete, of which one will be your sniper, and for the Sniper Challenge one will need to be his spotter. 2. You will need all of your standard protective gear: MUST HAVE: Tactical Body Armor, Helmet, Gloves, Eye Protection, Hearing Protection, Gas Mask. 3. You will need shields, and breaching ram....If you can't bring or don't have these we will provide them. 4. Registrations Free and we provide Lunch.....and it won't be MREs either. Weapons: 1. Service issue Pistol, mags, holsters and ammo........NO RACE GUNS, and caliber is whatever you use. 2. Issue Rifles/Carbines,(Whatever your Dept uses) mags, ammo, slings....optics/suppressors are fine. 3. Shotguns ......for ammunition you will need slugs.....NO RiFLED Barrels or Optics(Optics may be allowed TBD) on SG 4. Sniper Rifle......any caliber, Optic, semi or bolt is GTG ......except NO .50BMG, .408, 416s 5. Simunition Guns or conversion kits....or similair Force on Force type training munitions and ammo for same......(If you can't bring it we can provide these, but they will be Glocks and AR15s) ***I will get into amount of ammunition for each weapon and Officer when the events are finalized. Some examples of Courses - once the courses are finalized, anyone interested I can send you copies -, but will consist of some or all of the following examples of past events: 1. Downed Officer rescue/live fire shoothouse. = Relatively self explanatory: - Sniper engages a threat to start the event - Team "clears" Shoothouse of threats - Team carries a downed "Officer"( One of you teammates) to a predetermined Finish Line - Event will be done with gasmasks on and full Tac Gear/Armor - Scored on time and accuracy (misses will hurt you in score, and so will dropping the Officer and safety violations....major safety Violation will get you disqauled) 2. Run & Gun: ( Team Building exercise) - Sniper must locate and engage a threat, when finished engaging he must run to team behind him at startline. - Team advances to next Firing line, picks up and holds a Telephone pole, and must hold and carry it for remainder of the course. - While team holds the Telephone pole, preselected team mate(s) moves to firing line and engages designated targets w/ SG and returns to team. - Team advances with telephone pole to next firing line. - Team mates move to Firing line and engage targets with Rifle/Carbine and returns to team - Team advances with TP to next and final firing line. - Team mates move to firing line and engage targets with pistol and return to team. - Team can then drop the TP and sprint back to Start/Finish Line (About 150 yards.) - Event will be done in Full Tac gear/Armor. - Scored on time and accuracy 3. Long Range Sniper Challenge: (Spotter/Sniper Team) - Sniper team will have to identify and engage targets from different positions and Ranges from 100 to 400 yards - The distances will be unknown and you will have to figure it out 4. Bus assault/Hostage Rescue: - Team will assault either a Metro Bus or School bus - using Simunition and have to eliminate/engage threats and rescue hostage(s). 5. Individual event: Ironman Challenge - One team mate from each team will run this event......all I will say is I hope you are in shape and like stairs. Rules and courses will come with packet sent to teams interested once finalized, I will update as I can |
