I have searched around here and google can't  seem to find recent or valid answers, so I'm hoping some of you can help.
Here is the scenario: a Sheriff's Deputy employed by a rural Nevada county travels to California. Under LEOSA he can legally conceal a handgun, correct?
Assuming the Deputy can carry, does the firearm have to conform to California's stupid safety standards?
How about magazine capacity?
Is there anything that would prevent a second "BUG" gun?
Thanks for any help or resources you can direct me to.

The Deputy Sheriff can legally carry in California under LEOSA.

What handgun are you thinking doesn't conform to California's SSS?

Here is the HR218 Link from the California Attorney General.  http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/leosanew.php

If you find an officer who's going to give you shit over your handguns or your magazines, you've found a real died in the wool prick.

FYI, California peace officers are exempted from having to abide by the handgun approval list when making purchases.   That's the only way we can get some of the guns out there as a backup because they aren't on the approval list.

Out of curiosity what areas of Ca. you going to?   Liberal infested ones or conservative ones?   Just make sure it's concealed well and make sure you've got your dept ID with you in the event of an encounter where you need to confirm employment legal carry.

Thanks guys. Looking at 12020(b)(20), it looks like just about any legitimate LEO is exempt from the magazine ban, if I am reading it correctly.
Do you guys have a link to some resource showing an exemption to the Safety Standards law?
To answer the questions: Occasional travel to Paso Robles, Sacramento, and Auburn, but more often Markleeville, Susanville, and Tahoe areas( essentially the deputy's back yard).
Guns in question include an older Smith model 19(with firing pin on the hammer), Smith 36, Rock Island Armory 1911, Colt Delta Elite10mm, Belgian Hi-Power, and P-64 9x18 makarov.
