Looks like I'll be headed to Birmingham this Sunday thru Tuesday for an extradiction. I'm not sure which hotel or area yet, but was hoping some of you good ol' boys could recommend a couple good, safe restaurants and/or bars to try while we're there. Help me spend my per diem!

Don't live in B'ham anymore, but I grew up there and still visit family there frequently. Since you don't know what part of the city yet, I can't rec. a real "local" spot... but anywhere you are in the greater B'ham area you'll be pretty close to a Jim'N'Nick's if you want to try some good pulled pork BBQ (among other things... great pie BTW). http://www.jimnnicks.com/ I'll leave the bar recs to my brethren here who drink.

Seriously though, stay and play South of the city. This may be a no brainer, but I had to say it. There is so much to do/see/eat. If you like seafood, go to either of the Seafood Markets. Can't decide? Go to the Galleria or Brookwood Mall. |
