I have not been around much because I have been so busy with motherhood and family stuff, but I wanted to share how much my little girl has grown! 3 months old... time sure does fly by. Anyway I think it has been awhile since we have all bragged on our children. so let's see those incredible cute faces!

Beautiful pics!

I have a Y chromosome, but I'm as proud of my kids as anyone –– can I play?

Fairly recent pic (Easter).

Junior will turn 6 this September (in the Happiest Place on Earth, no less
), and the girls turned 2 back in March.

Time flies quickly, doesn't it?  I was just saying that the other day, in fact.  Habs, what a cutie pie!  I'm pretty sure that at 3 months old, your daughter has more hair than Colton does at 1 year old!  I think your baby got my baby's hair!

HS, beautiful family, as always!

Here's a couple recent pics of Colton.  The first one is at a local park, where he decided to play in the fountain.  The second one is one I had printed and framed for The Mr. for his first Father's Day.

Sorry, I have to comment.  I hope you don't take offense:  I think it's pics by a pro photographer.  That's like asking a pro pianist, "You sound really good, what kind of piano do you play?"

I can't say anything bad about it, really.  It's the last step in the Nikon line before going to a full frame camera, and I don't regret my decision on it at all.  Since there's no 'Auto' setting, it forces you to learn how to use the camera and its available settings.  I swear by it, too!

This is exactly what I want.  I'm a film shooter.  Photojournalist by training, but I'm a dinosaur and have no pro digital equipment.  Your shots are fantastic.   Your lighting is wonderful.

I shoot with an old tank of an FM2, and I long for a digital that will take my old Nikkor lenses, but I don't think I can be that spendy.  Nice to hear that this camera works the way I know how to work––without the auto settings.

I knew Jen was the photographer, and I never claimed to be one.  However, QS is a budding photographer and always asking for more accessories.  It was simple curiosity on my part.

Thanks for the info!  I'm learning slowly through osmosis (read: buying QS camera stuff) and am amazed at how technical photography can be.  (And how having an adorable subject certainly makes an even better photo no matter what camera is used!)

Digital's a great investment.  I couldn't imagine shooting film.  I'd spend more money developing crappy shots than would be worth it!

I think for those shots, which were  actually the same day, were taken with my 50mm 1.8.  I loves me the nifty fifty!  It's an inexpensive fast lens, and it's great for practically anything within rock throwing distance.  (Read, not landscapes and such.)  Primes are great to work with because they force you to move to your subject, whereas with zooms you tend to stick to one spot and not 'work' for the shot.  I've learned a ton in the year I've been playing around with this, and it's all been through books, classes, and trial and error.

I was surprised at how technical it can get, too.  At first, I thought I'd never learn the basics, it was so overwhelming!  Striker's big into photography too, and he helped me a lot.  Ilikelegs is a phenomenal photographer, and he's a wealth of into if you need it, too.

That's WONDERFUL With a 50. I have a 50 1.2, (okay, it's uxb's, but ya know..what's his is mine and all that rot...
) but honestly, other than the 35 or the fisheye, that's the last lens I pick up. (lame, I know.) I admit, I like longer lenses better. My fav portrait lens is the 105 because of the way it compresses the shot a little––more flattering to a lot of people, though with Colton, nothing would be unflattering, he's so damn cute. And (0kay, smite me) I'm a slave to my 80-200 2.8. I've shot a lot of amateur fashion layouts, a few album covers, and a bunch of head shots for celebrities and wannabe celebs, and the 80-200 was great for getting me close without them knowing it. I found that when a camera is right in the model's face, if they're not a pro model, they tend to tense up. If I'm further away, they don't realize I'm in that tight, and they relax and I get better expressions. But it's all in how you work and what your style is, I think.

You do GREAT with a 50. I'm so impressed with you! I love film. I know film from the shot to the enlarger to the chemicals.
I have such a steep learning curve going to digital.

eta:  The sad thing is, that between us (he's great with landscapes, I'm the portrait photog) we have about 30 grand worth of Nikon equiopment.  And it's all on the verge of being completely obsolete.
Maybe some day there'll be a demand for people who know about film.....

My 9 year old daughter:

She's our little whirlwind of activity. As soon as she walks through the door, it's "Mom? Can I call a friend? Can I play with Johnathan down the street? Can I go swimming? Can you get me a towel? Mom - can I call my friend Alice? What's there to eat? Dad, can you fix me a grilled cheese sandwich? Can yo put a show on for me? I'm bored. Can I go to Grandma's? ..." - all within 2 minutes. It's going to be fun when she's a teenager.

And my 12 year old son in his school uniform:

He's quite the opposite. I'm vaguely aware of a pre-teen in my home. He's either playing XBOX or something else, but we do get to see him when he comes downstairs to forage for food.
