| Have any of ya'll tried to get pregnant by using the ovulation kits? We tried one month without one and had no luck and so we are on our second month of trying and I decided after reading a little on the internet that we would try the ovulation kits. I bought the clear blue easy one with the line. So far you need a magnifying glass to even read the line. So, have ya'll tried them and did they work? General pros and cons? I know getting pregnant takes time so I'm not like in any huge hurry but just wanted to know if we are waisting our time and money on these walmart ovulation kits. |
|
I used them for a couple months to see if I was right about when I was ovulating. Seemed to work pretty well, although it's tough to accurately compare the two lines. If you're not exact, then you're off a day. After a couple of months of that, I didn't bother with them anymore. We ended up doing what the doc told us..."Just have sex every day and something's bound to happen". Clearly that worked.

Having sex has knocked women up since Adam's first woody, why do we suddenly need to pee on a stick first to have a baby? ![]() I'ma say that unless you suspect a problem or are trying that "let's determine the sex of the baby through timing/position/phase of the moon" voodoo you're wasting your money. Just get busy. It'll happen. |
not to stick my nose into the women's forum, but my wife and i had tried the everday thing for a few months. that didn't work, so our doc told us every other day. gives the guys sperm count a chance to rebound. worked for us 3 times (only 1 panned out though) just thought i'd throw that out there. |

All very great advise. My general knowledge of the way things work gives me a little more incite as to how these things occur and the things that will help the best. Their are several things that can be done that can help with the progression of becoming pregnant. Every women's cycle is different and that means that every women ovulates at a different time. Their are many ways to figure this out hear are some ways. Ovulation prediction is a science - and to increase the chances of becoming pregnant, many couples use various methods to chart fertility and calculate ovulation. Select a prediction method below: • Ovulation Tests allow you to pinpoint the date of your LH Surge. • Basal Body Temperature helps you confirm when you ovulate. • Fertility-Charting helps you predict ovulation based on calendar patterns, and changes in cervical fluid and basal body temperature. This site has a fertility calculator that will give you an idea of when you ovulate. http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/ I have never used those fertility tests but some people that I have worked with have used them and they have told me how much they do not work in my professional opinion they are a waste of money. Once you calculate your fertility time it is generally suggested that the couple have relations at least one to two days prior to your date of ovulation and continue every other day for the next week or two depending on the males sperm count. OP please IM me if you have any questions or just want to get some more info I am more than happy to help their are many factors that are at work in this situation. |

You might want to check out a book called Taking Charge of your Fertility. Or take some NFP classes. You would be amazed at what you learn about your body and your cycle through NFP. Even if it not something you want to use to prevent in the future, it might help you conceive. Then there is always this: Procreation Vacation Wanna make a baby? Jump on Marriott's fertility deal! By CLARA BOSONETTO MAERZ The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Published on: 06/19/08 We've learned a couple of new words this year Mancation - usually the golfing, cigar smoking, scotch drinking getaway for guys - and then there is the new frequently used Staycation. That's the no-cost, no-frills trip to the backyard. Another newbie word in the travel world is Babymoon, or the trip couples take while the lady is pregnant just before they embark on parenthood. So what about a Procreation? That's the vacation that couples take to make a baby. One such trip package, the "Fertile Turtle," was so successful last year that the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort is bringing it back for a second year. The sea turtle is known as the symbol of fertility and this is the right time of year to watch the hatchlings make their way out of beach nests and struggle a few dozen yards to reach the Gulf of Mexico. The Marriott will give a portion of the package to the Sea Turtle Monitoring & Protection Project of the Conservancy for Southwest Florida, the group that helps to protect this endangered and vulnerable species both on the beach and by bringing regional awareness through education about the delicate process of protecting turtle eggs and hatchlings. For instance, the group encourages beachfront properties to take a number of measures to ensure the hatchlings find the right way to the water. This Marriott has had all exterior bulbs fitted with special yellow covers to reduce the amount of light emitted which can help to prevent the little turtles from heading in the direction of bright lights. Many area hotels ask guests to turn off interior lights after sunset, or at least to use blackout draperies when lights are needed. Lovebirds can visit this beachfront resort with an overnight stay in a deluxe room with a king-size bed, a private balcony and a Do Not Disturb sign. Also included is a couples massage with Chaste berry and fertility-promoting aromatherapy; red clover and raspberry tea (which have natural pregnancy-enhancing qualities) and an authentic Balinese commemorative photo album to hold the memories of this special vacation. Rates start at $419 per couple on stays now through October 31, or the sea turtle mating season. A bit pricey indeed, but should a couple conceive a little one during their stay, the Marco Island Marriott Beach Resort will congratulate them with a complimentary three-night stay on a return visit. To qualify for the stay, couples only need to provide a birth certificate (and proof of the upcoming resort stay) within eight to 10 months of baby's arrival. Nice gift, no? The Marco Island Beach Resort sits on three miles of pristine southwest Florida white sand beaches and interiors are Balinese-inspired to bring harmony, balance and hospitality. The resort's Quinn's Pool is surrounded by lush landscapes and outdoor dining spots. The resort also features the championship Rookery at Marco Golf Course and the Spa at Marco Island Resort for indulgent treatments. To book the Fertile Turtle package, visit http://marcoislandmarriott.com For more on the Sea Turtle Monitoring & Protection Project of the Conservancy for Southwest Florida, conservancy.org AirTran is currently running an airfare sale that prices one-way trips between Atlanta and Fort Myers at $79 on trips finished on or before November 5. Trips cost $89 Mondays-Saturdays and $99 on Sundays. Give at least a ten-day advance notice of travel. www.airtran.com -Mrs.Monk |

Just a tip, They say to take your folic acid at least 3 months prior to getting pregnant. Unless you're having trouble getting pregnant, I wouldn't worry. One fool-proof technique for making it happen now is to 1.) Hang out with your guy as often as you can so he is getting a good dose of your hormones 2.) Try very hard NOT to fool around (act like it might be the death of you) 3.) When you decide it is worth risking death to do it anyway, you are probably ovulating. |
+1 for NFP! It's helped us space our kids. It worked to avoid pregnancy until we decided to let nature take its course, and we knew exactly when my wife was most fertile. Here's a place to start: find an NFP teacher |
My god! I got stretch marks just looking at that picture! Your poor wife! Did she threaten to cut off your wee-wee for doing that to her? |
![]() Gawd. Poor thing. <Thanks the heavens that my womb held but ONE at a time!> |

My gal pal has been married a year now, the past five months they have been trying to get pregnant. According to her doctor, it can take months to get pregnant... especially if you were on birth control for a year or more previously. Don't lose hope Can't wait to have myself a mini-monger. |
Yes, sometimes it can take a few months. Hey, practice makes perfect? |

Thanks everyone. I guess the old fashioned way will be our path. I think I will keep up with the ovulation testing just to see. I am not worried at all cause it is still early. We have only been trying for like 3 months. Because of all the stuff with my mother we havent had the chance to go on our honeymoon. We are leaving officially Wednesday so maybe we will have one of those old fashioned getting pregnant on your honeymoon experiances. Although I would love twins....no thanks I will pass on the triplets. Bless your wife! I just cant wait to see my dads face when we tell him after it happens. He needs more joy in his life right now. |

I just figured out what days I ovulated by calculating menstrual period, etc. somewhere online and had sex on one of those days. Along came my son! My periods were very regular so it was pretty easy. ovulation calculator |

BeautifulStranger, Right the stress will also block becoming pregnant. I have heard many couples say that when they stopped trying to get the wife pregnant, she became pregnant. So just let it happen, remove as much stress as you can, and have fun, just have sex as often as possible. I am sure your husband will agree to that. best of luck Max |

Even if you have no moral reasons buy and read this book... www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0926412132/nfpsite-21 Hint..... When shes ready to go and "well lubed" that the most fertle time seriously reed the book |
Another NFPer! Wonderful! My wife and I use the Creighton Model, but have friends who are CCL teachers. This book is designed for wives and husbands to become more informed about their fertility (it's a two-person task, after all...). If you want to get pregnant, this is the book for you. |

NFP rocks. The issue I have with OPK is the inherent question they leave in the mind of the user. NFP pretty much eliminates that question as long as the woman is actually ovulating. And she takes more than a microsecond to pay attention to her body. When TTC, the key is to have sex BEFORE you ovulate. If you wait until the day you ovluate, you've missed more than 75% of the window. It's my understand that OPK are an after-the-fact kind of thing. Granted, BBT, CM, and charting utlimately are too. But you also get a head's up notice when you start noticing changes. OPK don't allow for that. I think they're a waste of money simply because a cheaper, better method is available. |
I thought you only had one, Perse. And NFP worked for my parents for eight years. Then I came along.... |
