Its time for me to start planning my son's senior pictures.  I've asked him what he wants and besides a picture in his ubberly cool foot ball jersey he's given me no input.

I would like to take a couple of different type.  I want to take his 'football' picture in full pads/jersey - I'd like him to actually be a little sweaty and I hate it when the guys try to look tough [but we'll see if Mom gets her way on this one].

He's outgrown his suit and there's no money for a new one so I doubt we'll go very formal.  The best we can do is a long sleeve dress type shirt, possibly with a tie but I think a tie with out a jacket would look tacky.

Anyway, if you have any suggestions of what you've seen that you liked I would appreciate it.

Patty when Crystal had hers done she did them with her cheer outfit laying off to one side in one, her lettermans jacket in another, Some real nice "dressy" poses, nothing real dressy though, just comfortable but nice clothing. Some were outside, some inside. Some leaning on a tree, some laying prone on the ground.  The photographer also had props that they used in some of the pics, one said "senior" one said "2006".  I would say most captured who she is, not formal pics.
If you want to see them to have an idea, IM me your e-mail addie and I will e-mail them to you.

What are his hobbies? Hunting, the dogs, 4-wheeling? I think the casual photos are the best. All he needs is one formal head & shoulders, with the shirt & tie, but then the rest can be casual. Do you have a traintrack, old brick building, bike, car, the ideas are endless!
My daughter's friend has this site www.danelliottphotography.com/gallery6.htm which has a few senior photos on. Also in gallery 9 there is one with a guy and his pig!

Patty I think now a days the kids don't always get so dressed up. Nice jeans and even a nice polo shirt, hawaiian shirt or dress shirt. Maybe some near the old truck with his gun/dogs, near a river are always good ones. Do you have any water over there??? :)
Good luck!

I agree that smart/casual looks nice. My son wears a nice dress shirt and pants to most dances and looks great. I like your idea too, of a picture of him in his football gear.

Thank you for the ideas everyone.  MS E, the website is great.  I really appreciate it and 1Shott thanks for the IM!

Lets see hobbies?  He's a computer geek.  I've been making him go outside a bit everyday so he'll have something less than a hollowed glow to him.  He does play football, basket ball and tennis.  He's into math and science, chess.  He did mention a picture with his dog.  He actually isn't into hunting or shooting really [takes after his father what can I say?] he's an excellent shot however!

NurseB you crack me up.  Water, that's that wet stuff right?    Our ranch is on Dry Fork Creek.  It was about 3 years after living here that I finally asked where the creek was.  Everyone looked at me like I was stupid or something.  I had to be physically shown the creek bed in order to realize that maybe just possibly water might have sometime in this millennium ran down that creek bed!

My Grandfather does have a beautiful creek running through his property and a beautiful old barn.  [I love barn wood].

Thanks again.  MrsGungHo, thanks for the offer I'll IM you my email addy.

I recommend doing a lot of shots in front of different textured walls. If he isnt extremely outdoorsy he may look out of place in front of a big tree or his truck. If you have any old wood, like on that barn, that would be a great black and white shot. If you have any tall grass, like hay, a sitting or kneeling shot could be neat. A shot with his dog is always good just be aware of your background.

When it comes to clothes it should always be casual if your doing outside shots. The dressy shots should be done inside with a clean background. I also recommend doing some in fall and summer clothes. It gives you a variety.
