Thank you! Well I hate to be honest I hate paying buckoo bucks for a dress but I haven't slurged on myself in a long time {I bought the above dress off of ebay for $5.99} so I'll keep it open. Under a $100 though! Patty *ETA* The above might work. I need to wear it. I have very long legs and I don't want to intimidate the judge who is a very short woman! |
I like suits too and have a good many to pick from but I think it would send a wrong message to the judge and jury. I live in a very rural county that look down upon high fashion/attorney types. Since I can't afford an attorney my husband and I are going to be defending ourselves and I would like to start out with the sympathy of the judge/jury [jury at least]. I have a very nice white dress but I think it might be a bit too much, so I'm picturing light blue, maybe small flowers. I like dresses too. I wear them to church and to my dog shows. Its amazing how the color and style of a dress will effect something as simple as a dog show. The judges are suppose to be there judging only the dogs but a red dress often [more times than not] gets second place [to match red ribbon]. A woman in a yellow flowery dress will gain sympathy from the judge and you'll see them give more time and be more patient. This can help in some cases and hinder in others. I find it interesting. *ETA* I have considered finding a nice top to go with a skirt I have. The skirt hits me about mid calf, its rayon, dark blue with light blue flowers. Very plain but pretty. I was thinking maybe a twin set to go with it but a pet peeve of mine is sleeves not fitting and its difficult to find sleeves that fit. |
So much is coming with 3/4 sleeves, so if you get long sleeves that are a little short, you can just push them up for that 3/4 look. |
I know but I hate it. I hate 3/4 sleeves because growing up all I got was 3/4 sleeves with the lecture just push em up. Didn't matter that they pulled under my arms or poked my elbows. Its a hang up I have. I've got a gazillon of them.

Okay I was checking out Macy's first because they have nice simple dresses that are still really pretty. Here's some I found that are blue and flowy or just nice dress you can use multiple times. Went through other name brand stores, ones I could think of and then found chadwicks. Had heard of it but haven't bought anything. Found some nice cheap ones there. Hope this helps! Let us know what you get. Dress One although thats knee length and isn't long. ![]() Dress Two could get it in juniper (blueish to me) this one is real nice Dress Three and have turquoise, pacific blue, new french blue blue but has pattern Dress Four that website has a lot of nice ones for cheap. And they don't tell you until you click on it whether it comes in different colors or not so if one strikes you i'd click it anyway. :) |
I hear ya. I think that's why I go for seperates a lot, because I'm tall with boobs and hips... dresses seem to fit funny and be a funny length. Good luck with making your selection, I know that the visual can often influence the mindset/train of thought, I think you're onto something wanting to make the right impression visually. (I hate shopping! LOL) |

I have ordered from Chadwicks before, there dresses are ok, but they always look better in the catalog than they do in person. My favorite is, Coldwater Creek They have an outlet site also. Many times there are coupons for $25 off $100 order, or free shipping. I think I might have a $5 coupon at home. I can't find any $25 off coupons right now. If I do, I'll let you know. When do you need it by? |
Thank you ms_embroidery! I don't have a court date yet. I went in yesterday and plead not guilty. I see my neuro surgeon tomorrow and will probably have surgery soon on my neck so the judge is going to wait to set a court date until I know when I'll be well. [which was very nice!] So long story short, I have time! Patty |

That first lavendar dress you posted is gorgeous! Simple, elegant lines. But for court I'd go with something that at least has 'cap' or 'shell' partial sleeves. Sleeveless might not be entirely 'conservative' enough if one is the defendant. Of course a coodinating tailored bolero jacket with the dress would be totally perfect. And I second the motion for Coldwater Creek |
lol sorry I got ahead of myself and was like ohhh so cute hehe, the court thing slipped my mind. No problem, I love looking at clothing online at work lol and at least it was helping someone. I like the two you are looking at. But for court maybe the plain one. I like the flowery one too ... for the price get both ::nudge nudge:: lol just playing. They are both very nice though. Although the flowery one does seem to give you more room at the bottom, like it is more spacious and flowy (I can't think of the right words either) |

I really appreciate the help a lot. I've oogled the top dress [flowery/flowy] for a while in the catalog but its shown in pink. This is the first I've seen in it the blue color. I really like it and the material. I have the exact same dress as the second except its short and no sleeves. The material is suit like, which would be professional. I agree with the shoulder cap sleeves, not as professional/conservative as I'd like. I guess I'll go with the 2nd. I like your idea of 'get both' its the ARFCOM way! |
