I am teaching WWII in 5th grade, and I have been covering weapons of the wars we have looked at thus far. I was wondering if anyone had any info on the weapons of WWII that would be good to share with the class.

I would be especially pleased to have some good film/video of the MGs of the war. I can't go to youtube due to the porn filter at school, but the google video will work. There does not seem to be much on there though.

I would love some quality video of MG42s and M2HBs running.

The kids have really loved what we have looked at thus far, and I really hope to keep it up. If you guys have any suggestions as to what to study I would be up for that too. I know they really enjoyed reading about the B17s due to the incredible odds they faced every time they went up in the air. Stories of people doing incredibly brave things or defying odds of any type would be a huge hit.

Thanks guys.

ETA: Are there any good movies preferably documentary, but I am open to others, which would be good for 11 year olds. Obviously no swearing or sex please.

You might want to look at the HISTORY channel and see the videos they have.

Tora Tora Tora is generally seen as a good WWII documentary (from a historical perspective)...

Excerpts from Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan would probably go well, just pre-screen it to be sure it's appropriate...

As for gun footage, we are still using M2s from the WWII era in the modern day military (there was one weapon in my last batallion that literally was MFGed in 1945)...

Time Life series of books on WW2 are really great - lots of pictures, in depth articles of each battle, front, army, and all the details in between.
