The Officer in charge ordered a dismounted attck with sabers only (I don't know why)

In Colombia , South America, Mafia train young men to become hitmen. As strong Catholic believers, they have a ritual in which they go to church and prey to "our lady of the assasins" to bless their bullets, for protection against enemies,  and that the "victims" have instant death. Also the drink up wine mix with powder from a bullet, before doin their job.

One would be the Simba rebellion in the Congo, mid 60s I believe. It was put down by Mad Mike Hoare's mercenaries and Belgian Para-commandos.

Sicario?  I lived on the frontier between Venezuela and Colombia for a while and heard of youth assasins called "Sicario" or something similar.

that's why, lol he knew exactly what would break their morale in fighting, and that's make them think they aren't invincible any more
