Has anyone here actually read Thucycides? I find him difficult to read, especially since I don't have intimate knowledge of the various Greek city states. Any good books out there regarding the Pelopennisian war that you can recommend? ...one with pictures would be nice... |
| I've read it over 20 years ago. Since then I've aquried an illustrated edition of Thucydides with plenty of maps. This helps you to keep track of the various city states. I don't know if it helps, but I read Herodotus (The Persian Wars) first. It gives you a lot of background information that helps when you read Thucydides. |
