If someone ordered an AR online with a 16" barrel but it came to the FFL with a 14 1/2" barrel and screwed on bird cage, they paid, took it home, and then discovered the barrel length what should they do? |

Don't let the man catch you with it.....that's for sure. You could probably talk with the manfacturer, and exchange it for the correct uppper. But I'd go back through the FFl. You might get somethin' free thrown in, for the inconvience. I mean, he DID see you an SBR without the proper paperwork. ![]() |

LE w/ friends at ATF on both compliance & enforcement side. I would: 1) send certifed mail correspondence to FFL you bought from, noting the issue and the fact that you did not request a SBR and the proper ATF paperwork for a SBR was not completed. Request he/she "immediately remedy" the matter. 2) CC your local ATF, DA, & Chief of Police. DO NOT GIVE THE GOVT A CHANCE 2 MAKE U THE BAD GUY!!! IT WILL COST U $$$$$$$$$$$$$ 3) Call local Police Chief & request he accept the SBR as "SAFEKEEPING" property until the issue is taken care of. Very impt. IM me if u need anything. Do not take this issue lightly. The FEDS do not! |
Fuck all that shit- You do not want to get the ATF or non "NFA smart" LEO's in the loop. Get the upper out of your possession- back to the dealers or to a family member that doesn't have any AR's I have had a NFA gun mixed up with the ATF for nearly a year- long story short, they fucked with me as much as possible and I couldnt do anything about it. I had all the legal paperwork, and they were the least helpful pricks they could be. If you call the LEO's and try to do the right thing guaranteed you will talk to the guy that doesn't know shit about guns and you'll spend some time in jail. |

I sure as hell would not call the cops or the ATF or anyone who is the law. First off, if you got a rifle like a COLT LE6921 which is already a factory registered SBR by mistake, I'd take the entire gun back to the dealer ASAP. And the guy who shipped it by mistake instead of a LE6920 made a big mistake. Second, if it is just a matter of getting a short upper on a non factory registered lower, I would just seperate them and still take the gun back to the dealer. Are you talking about you bought a complete rifle, factory built or did you buy somebody's home assembled rifle? Either way, if the barrel is really short of 16" it's a screw up. Send it back and get your money back. |
Isn't it ironic how many innocent people get screwed over and so many guilty ones go free? Liberty and justice for all (who can afford it). |
you were quoting barrel length based on the buttstock??....... ETA: to fix spelling mistake to check barrel length put a soft balsa would dowel down the barrel with the bolt closed. when it doesn't go any farther mark the dowel at the muzzle then measure the dowel. ta da barrel length isn't that the correct way to do it guys? or at least a simple way??? |
What is it Bugs Bunny says about this sort of situation? Something about the color burgundy - no, it's maroon! What a maroon! Actually, this isn't the dumbest thing of this sort I've ever heard of. Gas mileage is measured by measuring emissions, not by just putting in a gallon and seeing how far it takes you. Bureaucrats!
He said flash hider, so don't forget to subtract that. |
