(please correct me if this is the wrong forum to ask this question) I am a current 03 FFL holder (Curio and Relics) and I wanted to "upgrade" to a 01 FFL. How hard is it to obtain an 01 FFL? I have the app, but I dont want to miss anything in particular (I missed another form on my 03, and had to wait a month extra) Do I have to worry about state business lisences? (I plan on selling online and at shows only.) I'd appriciate any help or suggestions with obtaining an 01 FFL. Thanks -Jason |
| My understanding is that the ATF will not approve just for selling at gunshows. Here are the basic requirements: must have physical premises, must not have zoning restrictions that would prohibit sales, and must have business hours (can be very limited but must be on a weekday between 10am and 5pm). |

ATF can take as long as 60 days to process your application. It helps to call them as the process goes on. They "lost" mine at one point and then "found" them. In Harris County in Texas no CLEO sign off is necessary. Your jurisdiction may be different. We also generally have no zoning issues here. Good luck. |

... I need to get an FFL to do some gunsmithing projects... do I still need to have M-F daytime hours for something like this? Also, anybody know what the rules are as far as the space used for the business? In my case, I have a full C-Corp and a business licence as a manufacturing corp. I also have a good jump on the tools but no FFL to allow me to use them... yet! |
I think you still need to post daytime hours (just in case)... as for the space used for the business, it can be your home, if the zoning laws allows for businesses to take place in the home. btw, keep us updated! -Jason |

Not trying to divert the thread, and I can start a new one if necessary, but I'm thinking about getting an FFL too and am interested in a few particulars. A friend and I were hoping to incorporate and get the license in the name of the corporation, with each of us as a principle. Is that possible, or does the license have to go to the individual? He owns some office space, which we will use as the license address. As I understand it, inventory can be recieved and/or stored at an offsite storage facility. Can this be my home? Thanks, SC |
Just another note. I rent a 10x12 office for my premise. No display cases, just a desk and chairs....ATF said "Great" |
